    Heliport Obstruction Lights

    According to the latest FAA advisory brief, all obstruction lights must now be NVG (night vision goggle) compatible. This means that they must contain an infrared emitter in order to be visible to pilots using night vision goggles. FEC obstruction lights are some of the only products on the market that meet this requirement.

    Obstruction lights are important for marking tall structures that could pose a hazard to aircraft. They are usually marked with red lights that flash or burn steadily during nighttime operation. Aviation orange and white paint is used for daytime marking so that the obstruction is visible even during the day.

    LED Obstruction lights are an important safety feature of any helipad. They are used to mark and illuminate any type of obstruction in and around the FATO (Final Approach and Takeoff Area) or TLOF (Touchdown & Lift-Off Area). LED obstruction lights provide a high degree of visibility from all directions, allowing pilots to easily identify obstacles from a safe distance during night operations or inclement weather conditions. The bright white light emitted by these fixtures is visible for miles, making it easy for pilots to locate the pad obstructions even in low visibility situations.

    The installation process for LED obstruction lighting is relatively straightforward compared with other types of lighting systems. LEDs require minimal maintenance due to their long life span, which makes them an ideal choice when it comes to permanent installations on helipads as they can be left functioning without having regular inspections or repairs done on them like traditional lamps would need. Furthermore, LEDs consume less energy than traditional bulbs so they’re more cost effective over time too!
